the story behind the story

In case you didn’t see me leaping down the street yelling, “my new website is HERE” – there’s a new look to Amy Paulson Photography.  And there are a lot of people to thank.

Approximately, 3 12 26 times I nearly gave up on all of this.  Between moving, really sitting with who I am and how that plays out in the way I see and capture the world, having a new baby, health issues, and all that goes with re-branding – some gracious people pulled me through it.  And I cannot say thank you enough.

Shannon McDonald – I have no idea how I would have survived the past year of my life without your friendship.  You sharpen me.  You have literally been a part of restoration in my life – so no wonder God gave you that word.  You talked me down from the ledge – listened for far too long – and pushed me to be a better mom, wife and photographer all along the way.  You are a gift.

Heather Maynard – Oh girl…  You gave me vision when I felt like I was stuck in a cave with no way out.  You breathed hope into me numerous times, saw clearly when I couldn’t and took some incredible images filled with so much concept and intentionality that I felt completely blown away/inspired/somehow clearer.  You are incredible.  Thank you for sharing your talent, your insight and your encouragement with me.  And for fielding numerous desperate phone calls.

PS: Heather is the woman behind the lens for most of my “about me” pictures.  And…in fact – these are her heels.  I brought my first ever pair of heels (which I bought at 27) with me and well…they were nearly flats.  So these shoes?  Yep.  Heather’s.  It makes me want to start wearing heels.  Until I remember how much they hurt.

Lindsey Sackett – Do you know how grateful I am for you?  You and your sweet husband spoke words over me at a time that changed me.  It meant that someone ACTUALLY saw what had been my prayer for so very long.

Jenny Solar – oh girl.  You taught me that in life – we need to go DO something.  You have no idea how much this changed me.  Thank you!

Amanda Forbes, Melissa Oholodent, Brit Stewart, Erin Davenport, Annie VarlandJenna Rammel, Jenni Bailey, Amelia Southworth and Courtney Scowby – oh you ladies.  Not only are you ALL incredible artists – but you also went out of your way to help me refine my galleries, and you helped me remember I could in fact do this.  I’m so grateful for all of your help.

Natalie Norton – There’s not a post long enough to say thank you for all the ways God has used you in changing my life.  Thank you.  Thank you for the story that you are living.  Thank you for not giving up.  Thank you for mentoring me.  And for pushing me to establish a firm foundation before I looked into all the pieces for my business.  You are incredible.  And that may be one of the biggest understatements EVER.

Lara Casey and Emily Ley – Oh you two…  I’ll write more about it in the weeks to come, but let’s just say you changed EVERYTHING in my business as you opened my eyes through your Making Brands Happen webinar. (PS: they are doing 2 more sessions over the summer.  One of the best.investments.ever.  Go. Sign up.  Right now)   You pushed me.  And challenged me.  And made me see how I could give my clients my BEST.  Y’all changed EVERYTHING for me in that webinar and I can’t say thank you enough.

Kristen and Katherine Paulson – you stepped in and spoke truth into me and my vision.  And I cannot thank you enough.  And Kristen – you’ve helped me serve my clients in SUCH a better way.  I cannot thank you enough for the hours you’ve spent helping grow my brand.

Kelly Schmidt – you’ve been my faithful friend.  Through some of the roughest patches in my life.  I’m forever grateful for you.  And I love you.  Thanks for being my wordsmith/guru on how to speak my voice.

To all of you precious friends and clients who voted – THANK YOU.  THANK YOU.  THANK YOU.  This NEVER would have been possible without you.  THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To my precious client friends – y’all blow me away.  Thank you for letting me into your lives.  For little emails and comments and keeping me going throughout this process with your kindness and your encouragement.  I love you all to pieces.  You hold my heart.

And to the FABULOUS Rachael Earl of Earl & Layne – oh girl.  You held my hand.  You cared.  And you saw ways to bring to life WHO I am in a website.  You are AMAZING.  Thank you for all of your hard work, your artistry and your patience.  I cannot say enough thank yous…

Finally – thank you to my sweet little ones.  Thank you for your patience.  For reminding me of what’s important.  And for changing how I see the world.  I love you more than you can ever imagine.
