Road Trip Day 1

I got in the van with tears in my eyes.

It’s been a whirlwind for the past month.  My little lady finished kindergarten.  Ted and I celebrated our 8th anniversary.  We launched the new website that I’ve poured myself into this past year.  I drove back to a place I used to live that I hadn’t visited in nearly 14 years.  And though we’ve looked forward to this road trip for a long time – it also means being gone from home for nearly a month.  (with three kids.  Translation: NO SMALL TASK.)

There’s been so much.  And frankly – though I’m excited for this trip – I’ve been nervous.

Part of this road trip is about changing US.  It’s about reconnecting.  Shutting off our phones (well – mine won’t be off until after Gianna and Ryan’s wedding, but still…) and really seeing what is before us.  Our kids.  This world.  People.

I’ve deleted Facebook and Twitter off my phone.  I’m serious here…  I’m trading in watching someone else’s life for LIVING my own.  And as silly as it sounds – I’m scared.

We’re one day in and I’m so grateful.  I realize we’re going to have hard moments, but being fully present and forcing myself to do so has been a gift.  I’m excited to change.  And never forget my little man singing “Conjunction Junction” after 10 pm as we drove through North Carolina.  Or rocking out to Passion White Flag as a family.  Or jumping on the bed and wondering if they would EVER go to sleep.  And the list goes on.

So here’s to change.  And living.

And, as always, I love getting to know peoples’ stories, so if you are trying to pursue change and living fully, I’d love to hear your story.  It might take me a bit to respond as we’re out on the road – but I’ll look forward to hearing what you’re doing.

(And if it seems to work as a part of our day – I’ll have pictures to post of our adventures.  If you need some road trip inspiration in the meantime, go visit THIS BLOG.  Some of the most amazing people EVER.  Love them to pieces…)
